Making healthy eating simple
Okay, hands up, how many of us have shelves stacked with healthy eating guides that stay in absolute pristine condition because we never get our act together & buy in healthy produce - or else we do, but it goes off in the fridge or cupboard because we don't get round to producing the wonderfully nutritious meals that are featured? We have such busy lifestyles that its easier to grab something quickly & heat it up!
SOOO - how to keep it simple? PLANNING is the key. It may take a bit of time upfront but once you've got yourself organised, then you have a template for healthy eating.
STEP 1 -
What do you enjoy eating that is good for you? Make a list.
STEP 2 - How do you prefer to shop? In person or via the Internet [If you haven't tried it yet, internet shopping takes patience while composing your first shopping list then saves these as your "favourites" so it gets speedier from then on in!]
STEP 3 - When do you need the produce? Seems simple but many a take-away is bought in haste when the cupboards are empty! Look at your week, plan out when you're home to shop & diarise it.
STEP 4 - Purchase some quick options - fresh soups, pittas, jacket potatoes....for those starving moments when you dash in ready to eat the hind leg off a scabby donkey.
STEP 5 - Why not consider having an organic box delivered weekly with seasonal fruit & veg? [Abel & Cole - deliver to your home www.abel-cole.co.uk, or check out www.riverford.co.uk if you're in the South]
STEP 6 - Cook in bulk & freeze your favourite dishes
STEP 7 - Keep it simple! If you have time to experiment at the weekend, then wonderful - enjoy, savour the preparation & anticipation of good nutritious food. When time is tight, have some quick simple options you can prepare in minutes.
For all of the above tips, I'm assuming that you already have an idea of what consitutes a healthy diet However, please check out Instiute of Optimum Nutrition website for a nutritional therapist near you [www.ion.ac.uk]....if you don't!
